Our Nutrition Program is lead by our in-house Functional Nutritional Therapy Practitioner, Liz Griff. She is passionate about nutrition and sharing this information with children and families. Read more about her work below:
"As a Functional Nutritional Therapy practitioner (F)NTP, I work with individual children and families to discover how the food we eat contributes to and/or disrupts health, development, and behavior. We depend on the food we eat to provide us with the building blocks of life—fats, carbohydrates, and proteins. When our sources of food are nutrient-poor, are contaminated, or are in the wrong proportion for our individual bodies we introduce stress into our system. This stress affects our digestion and blood sugar regulation, systems we depend on to keep other systems functioning properly: endocrine, vitamin and mineral status, cardiovascular, kidney, and immune. The Standard American Diet today, thanks to convenience and packaged foods, does not supply our bodies with the fuel we need to build bodies and brains. In addition, digestive dysfunction and toxic foods can prevent us from accessing the nutrients we do take in. By moving to a nutrient-dense, whole-food diet and removing sources of stress, we give kids the food they need to build strong bodies that get them where they want to go, with the health they need to get there."
Schedule an appointment to have a consultation with Liz, or choose a consultation package that best meets your needs.
Please note that Nutrition Consultations are all private pay, as they are not a covered insurance benefit.
Every family’s nutrition needs are different. Some families are working to accommodate individuals with allergies, some with sensitivities, all with different preferences and willingness to be flexible. This consultation will help you determine what your main goals are for improving the nutritional status of your family through food, discover what changes you can make within the constraints we all naturally face, and take steps toward making those changes.
This package includes two hour-long consultations, and two ½ hour consultations.
In the first you will discuss your concerns and priorities for your family’s nutrition. Liz will develop a working plan to target your concerns, which will be discussed and finalized in your second hour-long session. Two follow up sessions (recommended at one-month intervals) will help you track progress and change your plan to suit your family.
Understanding the details of how what we eat affects how we feel is critical to creating an individualized nutrition program. Using a detailed Initial Interview, an extensive digital Nutrition Assessment Questionnaire, and a three-day Food and Mood Journal, Liz can create a profile that will help bridge the gap between what foods kids like, what foods may be causing stress in their systems, and what foods kids need to thrive.
This package includes two hour-long consultations and one half-hour follow up. In the first hour Liz will use forms (already filled out by caregivers) to conduct an interview to gather needed information for assessment. In the second hour we will discuss connections and conclusions made by therapist and formulate a plan for what changes need to and can realistically be made. A follow up ½ hour session three weeks later will give family and therapist an opportunity to give feedback and make any changes needed.
